Glossary of Terms
Authentic A shoe designed and manufactured by the represented Brand.
Bespoke A made to order product or group of products commissioned specifically for an
individual/event/organization and designed in collaboration with the purchaser.
Brand The original manufacturer of a product; Nike, Jordan, New Balance, Adidas, etc.
Custom The result of any modification made to an existing sneaker, including
painting, adding/removing/swapping materials, sole swaps, etc.
Design & Technology
Midsole The layer between the outsole and the upper, providing cushioning and support.
Outsole The bottom part of the shoe that makes contact with the ground, often made of rubber for durability.
Upper The part of the shoe that covers the top of the foot, can be made from various materials like mesh, leather, or
synthetic materials.
Cushioning The technology used in the midsole to absorb impact and provide comfort, such as EVA or air units.
Collab A collaboration between brands or designers, often resulting in unique sneaker releases.
Restoration The process of cleaning and repairing sneakers to restore their original appearance.
Collecting & Culture
Hypebeast A person who follows and collects trendy streetwear and sneakers, often driven by brand exclusivity.
Sneakerhead An enthusiast or collector of sneakers, often knowledgeable about various brands and models.
Grails Rare or highly sought-after sneakers that are considered a "holy grail" for collectors.
Marketplace & Trends
Drop The release of a new sneaker model, usually highly anticipated by collectors.
Deadstock A brand-new, unworn sneaker that is typically no longer in production.
Retail The original price at which a sneaker is sold in stores.
Resale Selling sneakers on the secondary market, often at a markup compared to the original retail price.
